Staff Nurse Job Description
Ensures efficient and unified practice flow by organizing and planning practice actions; conveys patient's needs; makes referrals; functions as a resource man of insurance info. Delivers direct patient care; evaluates patients physical, psychosocial or mental demands; provides patient and family teaching; triages patients and educates doctor of patient status; reacts to phone messages from patients and advises doctors as needed; orders supplies; stocks and preserves patient's rooms; sterilizes devices. Administers medications as assigned; functions as a resource person for knowledge of medicine uses, side effects, and dosage; checks for appropriate medicine order; files medicines; gets needed authorization forms to administer immunizations; notifies drugstores of doctor approved prescriptions; reviews drug samples to assure they haven't surpassed the expiration date; labels sample drugs and trains patients of medicine administration. Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
