1. Caulks seams between planking in hull or deck of wooden ships or boats to make them watertight by either of following methods: Guides caulking tool that automatically forces caulking material into seam. 2. Hammers material into seam, using tamping tool. 3. Heats marine glue in melting pot. 4. Fills glue runner with glue and guides runner along seam to fill seam with glue. 5. Removes excess glue, using scraper. 6. Pushes cotton line and hemp rope into seam and hammers them in place, using caulking iron and mallet. 7. Smears hot pitch over seam, using mop, or spreads putty in seam. 8. May hammer old caulking from seams, using reaming iron and mallet.
