Sealer Job Description
Work information, duties, and responsibilities of a sealer are the following:
1. Seals storage battery cells in containers to form airtight and watertight battery: Loads thermostatically controlled kettle with chunks of compound. 2. Ignites burners and adjusts temperature controls to heat and melt compound. 3. Opens valve to drain compound into pot and empties compound into tank. 4. Holds hose attached to tank and presses lever to control flow of compound over cells. 5. Starts conveyor to move batteries through flamer or manipulates gas torch to melt and level off compound to produce seal. 6. Scrapes excess compound from container, using putty knife and cloth. 7. May clip posts, using handtool. 8. May stamp numbers on battery, using marking dies. 9. May install covers on cells. 10. May melt compound in hand-manipulated container and pour compound over cells. 11. May use heated dipper equipped with trigger mechanism to deposit sealing compound over cells.
