Filter Operator Job Description

1. Tends rotary drum-filters that separate slurries into liquid and filter cake: Couples flexible hose or pipe to vat, starts pump, and turns valves to regulate flow of slurry to filter tanks. 2. Adjusts controls to regulate rotation speed of drums. 3. Turns valve to regulate pressure that forces slurry through filter, separating filter cake from liquid. 4. Observes discharge to ensure that scrapers are removing filter cake from drum. 5. May tend thickeners, washing sprays, settlers, or related equipment. 6. May draw sample for laboratory analysis. 7. May be known according to trade name of machine.
