AlBaik, a fast-food restaurant chain based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is known for its broasted and fried chicken dishes served with a variety of sauces. As the country’s largest restaurant chain, AlBaik has a registered trade name in 80 countries.

The chain was founded in 1974 by Saudi entrepreneur Shakour Abu Ghazalah, who initially sold fried chicken on Old Airport Road in Jeddah. AlBaik was registered as a trademark in Saudi Arabia in 1986. In December 2020, the chain opened two branches in Bahrain, marking its first expansion outside of Saudi Arabia. AlBaik has played a significant role in popularizing chicken in the fast-food industry, particularly in the Muslim world, as it offers Halal (permissible) food.

AlBaik has over 40 branches in its Jeddah headquarters, ten in Mecca, eight in Medina, two in Buraydah, one in Unaizah, one in Taif, one in Yanbu, one in Riyadh, one in Al Qunfudhah, one in Al Lith, one in Al-Kharj, and one in Al-Jubail. The chain has recently begun expanding further into the central region of Saudi Arabia, opening two branches in Buraidah and one in Abha, with more planned for the city and other main cities in the region. This marked the first time the chain has expanded beyond its primary service area in Saudi Arabia’s western provinces. AlBaik was introduced to Saudi Arabia’s South Province in the city of Jizan in 2016. As of 2019, AlBaik is constructing a new branch in Al Baha. The chain now operates over 120 locations worldwide.
